About My Work

As a contemporary artist, I’ve been shaped by my experiences in the world around me, a world increasingly more chaotic and difficult to comprehend. My landscapes offer a respite from that world. I invite the viewer to step into that serene world. My work is minimalist, calm and has sometimes been described as abstract impressionism.  Shape, colour and composition interest me more than trying to recreate a photograph. Large, open vistas bring a feeling of tranquility to me. This explains why I inexplicably fell in love the first time I saw the desert, or the shockingly beautiful vistas in Sedona, Arizona. With acrylics, I use multiple layers which give the illusion of oil and add depth and interest. With figurative painting I tend once again towards a simplicity both in composition and brushwork.  I work in oils and acrylic with brush, palette knife, my hands and other tools. I am also experimenting with collage. Although still discovering myself as an artist, it’s a journey which brings me joy and sometimes frustration but is never boring. My work has been sold to collectors in Canada and New York.

Can I request a custom sized original painting?

Yes!  However, it is not possible to reproduce one piece exactly as is, for a buyer. But, I can work with you in a collaborative manner to meet your size and colour preferences. Or, I will provide a photo of the work in progress, and allow two revisions after the initial piece is presented in a jpg.  I generally can complete a commission within a 3- 8 week time frame.  Please contact patriciataylorart0@gmail.com for information on pricing and lead times.

A deposit of 40% will be charged before the artwork is commenced.  The art work will be commenced within 14 days of receiving said commission.

Curating

Not only will I sell you one of my artworks, I can also come to your home (if you live locally) and curate your existing art collection if you need assistance as to where to place pieces. There will be a charge for this service.
